Alamat (Legend):

Edition of 10 in bronze resin
H64cm x W52cm x D26cm

Alamat, is an interpretation of a well-known Philippine legend:
The Origin of the Philippine Islands
In the beginning, there existed only the boundless sky (Langit), the tranquil sea (Dagat) and, between them, the fickle wind (Hangin) in the form of a bird.
One day the bird grew weary and thought of a way to amuse itself by cunningly pitting the sea against the sky.  In her agitated state, the sea surged, crashing her waves against the sky.  In defence, the sky hurled down rocks to supress the waves, eventually calming the sea.
The bird, gratified, smugly perched on the rocks which eventually formed the Philippine Islands.

Kabiyak ng Puso (One Heart)
Edition of 10 in bronze resin
H45cm x W30cm x D20cm

Kabiyak ng Puso is inspired by the anatomical shape of the human heart.  Its literal meaning in the Philippine language is “one half of the heart”.
More importantly, kabiyak ng puso is the idiomatic expression for “spouse”, signifying the union of two halves to form one heart.

Yakap (Embrace)
Edition of 10 in bronze resin
H35.5cm x W26cm x D26cm

The word yakap could mean:  "Clasp", to hold tightly with the hand; "hug", to hold tightly with the arms; or, as this sculpture suggests, "embrace", to put the arms around someone and pull them close.  An embrace so full of love that two people become one in body and soul.

Kamukha literally translates to "same face".  It is the word used to describe one who resembles another.
Scientific studies have shown that humans are genetically related to gorillas.  Therefore the sculpture has glass eyes into which you can see your own reflection, your likeness.
